Interactive Map: Who the Candidates Are and What’s at Stake in Argentina’s Elections

On October 26, Argentina will hold national legislative elections to choose new members of both chambers of Congress. These elections come without primaries (PASO) and will mark the first nationwide use of the single paper ballot. In this new electoral scenario, half of the Chamber of Deputies (127 out of 257 seats) and one-third of the Senate (24 out of 72 seats) will be renewed.
To explore who is running in each of the country’s 24 jurisdictions, we invite you to check out our interactive map, where you’ll find up-to-date information on candidates and political parties, province by province.
Province by Province: Seats at Stake
Eight provinces will simultaneously renew their representation in both chambers of Congress. Leading the group in the number of deputies to be elected is Buenos Aires City (Capital Federal), which will choose 3 senators and 13 deputies. It is followed by Entre Ríos, renewing 3 senators and 5 deputies, and Chaco, renewing 3 senators and 4 deputies. Other provinces renewing 3 senators and 3 deputies are Salta, Neuquén, and Santiago del Estero, while Río Negro and Tierra del Fuego will each elect 3 senators and 2 deputies.
Most of the legislative turnover will take place in the Chamber of Deputies. The province of Buenos Aires will see the largest renewal, with 35 deputies up for election. It is followed by Córdoba and Santa Fe, which will each renew 9 deputies. Mendoza will elect 5 deputies, while Tucumán will renew 4. A larger group of provinces will renew 3 seats each: Jujuy, Catamarca, San Juan, San Luis, Santa Cruz, Corrientes, La Pampa, and Misiones. Finally, La Rioja, Chubut, and Formosa will each elect 2 deputies.

Citizens who are 16 years or older on election day may vote, as long as they bring their latest national ID (DNI) and appear on the official electoral register. Voting is compulsory for citizens aged 18 to 70.
